Growing up in New York, I’m accustomed to the city’s association with upscale restaurants, a bustling nightlife, and its distinct style and atmosphere that has made it famous worldwide. The fast-paced lifestyle and corner stores are iconic to the Empire State, but everyone, both locals and tourists, occasionally crave a break from the urban environment to relish in some fresh air (and maybe even experience “all the colors of the wind”)
The good news is, that one doesn’t have to venture to other states or countries to do so. A peaceful one-hour flight to the northern part of New York will lead you to the Adirondack Mountains. This region offers a vast wilderness with mountains and picturesque trails, perfect for hiking and stunning nature photography for enthusiasts. But the adventures don’t end there! There are several ski resorts for those keen on snowboarding or skiing during the colder months, as well as boating activities for the warmer seasons. There truly is something for everyone, whether you’re solo or with a group, at any skill level. Its proximity to the city, requiring just a short flight, makes it the ideal destination for a weekend retreat after a hectic work week or a tiring couple of months.
